Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ is a classic late-summer perennial that brings structure, texture, and soft colour to the garden just when it’s needed most. Its fleshy, blue-green leaves form tidy clumps topped with broad, flat heads of pink flowers that deepen to rich copper tones as autumn approaches. Even after flowering, the seed heads provide winter interest and food for birds.

It’s drought tolerant, low maintenance, and thrives in full sun and well-drained soil — perfect for adding long-lasting colour and form to mixed borders or gravel gardens. Pair it with Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’ for airy contrast and Coreopsis Early Sunrise.

Sunlight: Full sun
Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile soil
Position: Ideal for sunny borders, gravel gardens, and wildlife planting
Hardiness: Fully hardy perennial
Height & Spread: Around 50cm tall and 45cm spread

A tough, reliable perennial that delivers colour, structure, and year-round interest with very little effort.

More information:
This plant is a herbaceous perennial. Herbaceous perennials die back below ground level each autumn, then fresh new growth will appear in the spring.

Many garden designers recommend planting Sedum in groups of three for a balanced, cohesive look. It helps the plants stand out together and creates a lovely flow in your garden. But don't worry—this plant also looks great on its own or in smaller groupings!
